Horoscopes don’t make any sense but neither does anything else.

I hear people say Astrology doesn’t make sense because Horoscopes don’t make any sense. And they are partially right, that only twelve different things that can happen in the world. I agree with the statement. However Horoscopes are not all of Astrology, so you can’t rationally dismiss Astrology because you dismiss Horoscopes.

If you look at a person’s natal chart you have ten planets. So each planet can be in one of twelve signs, except for Mercury and Venus, which can only be one sign away from the Sun sign.  Saturn takes about 30 years to go through the entire zodiac. So if you just used the planets from Sun to Saturn you would have 995,328 different combinations of planets in signs. The actual number would be a several magnitudes larger, since we aren’t including what degree a planet is in or aspects between planets.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator has eight elements that can be combined in 16 differnt ways.

The Sun is only one planet in the natal chart, and to ignore all the other planets you lose a lot of detail. The other objection I’ll hear is that different writers have a different interpretations. If you read a translation they will vary because of the writer’s personality, experience and/or interests. Why should a horoscope be any different. However I don’t think that all Horoscopes are useless. You just have to find the writer who is on your wavelength.

I do find that there is a stereotypical expression of  various signs, which can be modified by other planets and the time and place of your birth.

    Hi Del!
I’m turning 43 in a couple of weeks, always felt that 7 had a profound vibration for me. Can we set up a reading for June 5th?

Hi Marc. 7 is an interesting number. The odd number are considered masculine and the even numbers are considered feminine. 7 is a more introspective masculine number. It is a spiritual number, it is retiring, it is also considered a spiritual number. Masculine numbers are masculine but 7 is more feminine in it’s expression.
